A'hoy! My name is Anabelle Souza, and I am an illustrator and handletter-er residing in Lowell, MA.
I received my BFA in Illustration at Maine College of Art (MECA). While there, I interned for Kris Johnsen, a graphic designer and screen printer in Portland, ME, which helped me hone in my screen printing and shop owning skills. Currently, I am working as an Art Curator/Resident Illustrator/Barista at a local coffee shop, Coffee and Cotton. There you will find me either slinging coffee behind the bar, curating the next art exhibition, or working on small illustration/handlettering projects for the cafe or Mill No. 5.
You can also find me at Western Avenue Studios as I am developing my love and knowledge for letterpress and printmaking while interning for Sweet Pig Press.
My work can be best described as playful, bright, comedic, snarky, and sexy. I am most fond of creating work that is based on social commentary, using art as a way to create a discourse on topics circulating the media or social interactions.
